What is the bed and bath configuration of the cabin? Master Bedroom #1 - 1 Queen with shared bath with family room (granite counter, tile floor, marble bath/shower) Upstairs Master #2 - 2 Queens with fireplace and private bath (granite counter, tile floor, marble shower) Upstairs Bedroom #3 - 1 Double and 1 Twin with shared bath (w/ Bedroom#4) (granite, tile, marble shower) Upstairs Bedroom #4 - 2 Doubles and 3 Twins with gas fireplace and shared bath (w/Bedroom #3) Beds include mattress covers, blankets, pillows with covers and nice comforters. Does the cabin have towel/linen service? Yes/No. One of the nice things about Strawberry is that it IS NOT Lake Tahoe! However, one of the drawbacks is that less services are available. However, optionally, for $25 we will provide linens and towels for your use, but, they will need to be washed, folded and returned to the linens cabinet upon your departure. Laundry/maid service is not available in the area. So, please plan to bring towels and sheets as you desire. Typically, folks bring sleeping bags for the kids and only worry about the adults. However, whatever works for you! Does the cabin have a washer/dryer available for use? Yes. The laundry room is just steps away outside the kitchen door in its own 'building' . Supplies are provided so feel free to use as needed. What is the cleaning policy? For 3 nights or less, paying the $100 cleaning fee is optional - this "Leave-It-Like You-Found-It" policy helps keep the costs down for weekend only guests. However, just for clarity - this means: beds made, counters cleaned, bathrooms cleaned, floors vacuumed, kitchen floors swept/mopped, everything put-away. Pretty straight-forward. If you are staying 4 or more nights or decide to pay the $100 for cleaning, then simply load/turn-on the dishwasher and do the basic pickup upon your departure - the cleaning service will do the rest. Outside Campfires? Not allowed under any circumstances. Sorry, we know they'd be fun, but the risks are just to great. See rental agreement for complete details. How close is the nearest grocery store and/or restaurants? There are three small grocery stores nearby for simple needs. The smallest is in Strawberry (walking distance). Cold Springs (about 3 miles down hwy 108) and in Pinecrest (about 3 miles off hwy 108/ Dodge Ridge road and then straight towards the lake). The largest full-service grocery store is in Twain Harte about 20 minutes away. It is a very very nice store! On your way up, take the 2nd Twain Harte exit and it is on your right after about 1/2 mile, so plan to stop by on your way up to load up for your trip! Are dogs allowed? Usually, however, please call to discuss your specific situation. We are dog lovers ourselves, so we tend to say yes. However, we do not guarantee that we will say yes. Ultimately, keeping the condition of our cabin is the #1 priority. THX! How close to Pinecrest Lake and/or Dodge Ridge ski resort? Pinecrest Lake is about 3 miles away, take hwy 108 back down the mountain and then take your first left on Dodge Ridge road and then head straight. It is a mountain lake GEM! Dodge Ridge is about 6 miles away. Same directions as Pinecrest Lake except turn right on Dodge Ridge road vice heading straight to the lake. Easy! What is included with the kitchen? The kitchen includes all the pots/pans/bakeware/coffee maker/griddle/popcorn maker/dishes/cups/wine glasses/silverware/prep bowls most folks will need. However, if you are making something that requires specific cookware, don't hesitate to ask. What is the TV/STEREO/GAME setup? The family room has a 32" TV with DISH Network America's Pack 200 programming including local channels. There is also a DVD player and a portable stereo. The DVD player will also play music through the TV. Upstairs Master #2 has a 27" TV with Dish Network and a DVD player. This TV has rear-jacks for game box setups. The kids room/Upstairs Bedroom #4 has a 32" Flat-Panel TV with side jacks and is ready for game play. How do I get the keys? The keys are located on the property attached to a front door LOCK BOX. So, several days before your arrival I will provide the access code. Easy! Be sure to leave the keys in the LOCK BOX and close it when you depart! THX! Are there really fish in the river? Absolutely, the Department of Fish and Game stocks trout just upstream from us during the summer months. The river is fed from Pinecrest Lake and therefore flows all year round. The fishing hole just off the downstairs deck is always popular with the locals, as it is one of the few places with a quiet hole with rapids on both sides. They 'rest' here! Fishing supplies and licenses can be purchased from the local grocery stores (see above). How is the parking? During the summer there is tons of parking around the long circular driveway. However, the bottom part of the driveway in-front of the cabin is not well suited for rear-dully wheel vehicles. In the winter we have a plow service that clears the second half of the circular driveway and in front of the garage on the street. This plowed area will usually park around 5 cars. However, if it snows more than 6 inches during your stay, expect to shovel a little (snow shovels provided), as the snow plow can't access the driveway if you are using it for parking. Expect about a 50 foot walk to the cabin in the winter and remember that the ground can be slippery/icy! Take precautions as necessary walking down the driveway in icy conditions.
